Private lessons

Private lessons are available on violin, viola, and piano. All prospective students will first receive a trial lesson before establishing an ongoing lesson package. Trial lessons are geared toward getting acquainted and establishing goals—but yes, you will be playing music in the trial lesson!

Lessons are generally billed monthly according to the total number of hours of instruction. Children under the age of 12 generally learn best in weekly sessions of 30 minutes, while adults and children over the age of 12 may be more suited to 45-60 minute sessions. Discounts are also available for paying quarterly.

In general, best results are attained with weekly sessions and a regular individual practice plan. However, some students may prefer biweekly sessions or pay-as-you-go sessions. These options are available upon request, but they may be subject to the whims of scheduling.

If you are interested in private lessons, contact Nik to discuss rates and schedule your trial lesson.

Teaching Philosophy

Nik's teaching mission is to create a life-long dialogue wherein each student will hone the skills they need to meet their own goals. Every student will receive thorough foundations in music reading, musical interpretation, technique, music theory, and music history—with a strong emphasis on the intersection of music theory and interpretation. Students will also develop ensemble skills through playing in duets and other small ensembles.

Whether you're just starting your music journey or resuming after a side quest, there is a place for you in Nik's music studio.
